Thanks to all of you for your thoughtful responses to Friday’s giveaway newsletter. And congratulations to Victoria Kline, the winner of a signed copy of Veg Forward! I recommend you all read the comments to see what your fellow Susanality readers are most excited about cooking with in the coming months. I found it to be very revealing! The thing I have loved most about doing cookbook giveaways is that I get to learn so much more about you. That really helps me tailor future content to make sure that you’re learning and inspired! You can be sure we’ll explore eggplant and radishes in the future. And always, zucchini and tomatoes! One thing I know we can all agree on is that summer is the most exciting (and easy!) time to cook.
Love Thy Larder
“Love Thy Larder” is a new section I’m introducing for paid subscribers. In it, we will take a look inside my pantry and explore the ingredients I depend on most. I’d love to hear from you if there’s an ingredient you’d like to explore here. Let me know in the comments!
As I wrote in the pantry section of Veg Forward, I consider my fridge door to be an important extension of my pantry. This is where many flavor bombs and secret weapons live. If I’m being honest, this section has expanded beyond my fridge door and onto two lazy Susans I keep on the refrigerator shelves. (I’ve always been a little offended by that term — who says Susans are lazy!?)
A few weeks ago, I was making dinner in a real hurry. I was planning on grilling some pork chops that I’d bought, but didn’t have a plan past that. (As I’ve mentioned in previous newsletters, I use my gas grill constantly in the summer. It makes cleanup so easy, and I just love simple grilled food. If you’re a city dweller and you don't have a grill handy, use your broiler instead for similar results.)
