The cover of Nature’s Candy draws you in to purchase this book. I assume the recipes are just as enticing.

Made this tonight for dinner guests. My 2yo decorated the top and it was beautiful! Lovely rich chocolate flavor.

I did find the shortbread very dry and crumbly — there was no “spreading the batter” as the instructions advised; I had to tamp it down with a drinking glass. Once baked it was difficult to eat with forks as it would either slide off the plate or explode in a shower of crumbs when cut. I followed the recipe exactly — did anyone else have this problem? Would adding an egg help?

Hi Emily-

Sorry you had some issues with the recipe. Never actually tried Camilla's method for making a large one, but I would think baking it for a shorter time would have Meade it softer and perhaps more "forkable". Or just eat it by picking it up!

Thanks so much for the response! Yes, that’s what I invited our guests to do once I realized forks were not working. Everyone enjoyed it more as a finger food :) and will try a shorter baking time on the next round.
